My entire faith is wrapped in these lyrics. My God is not a being far away, ruling over me with a stern look. He isn't waiting to punish me when I disobey. He doesn't force his way on me. My God has touched my heart in indescribable ways. He has redeemed my life from the pit and has crowned me with righteousness. And all I can do is stand in awe at the fact that my whole life he has kept me safe. During all the storms of my life, I was sheltered under his wings. While I was a girl, growing up always feeling worthless and alone, crying my heart out hoping someone, anyone would love me...He was there. While I was being raped and stripped of all I was...He was there, standing beside me. He was there protecting me.
